We asked each of our teachers a few questions to get to know them better!
Meet Amy Harper!
When did yoga first become part of your life?
2000 - I had gotten sick and I was looking for something that would allow me to improve my mental and physical strength. My father suggested that I try Yoga. I did and it immediately became a passion of mine.
When did you begin teaching?
January 2006. I started teaching children’s yoga. March 2006 I taught my first adult class.
What made you decide to progress from student to teacher?
I have always enjoyed helping others and after having children I decided to that I wanted a job that would offer me the flexibility to spend time with my children and help others. Becoming an instructor allowed to focus on my children and family and use my passion and love of Yoga to help others of all ages.
What is your personal practice and practice you teach?
Personal – It varies from day to day (what I do Is based on what I feel I need that day (flexibility, relaxation, inner strength)
Teach – I always teach to my student’s needs. Each night before a class I think of my students (any age) and design a class that offers them a range of strength, flexibility, and relaxation and most important I try to make it fun.
If you could be any animal in the world what would it be and why?Tiger – They are strong and protective of their loved ones
My favorite quote is: "How far you go in life depends on your being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and strong. Because someday in your life you will have been all of these."
- George Washington Carver
