We asked each of our teachers a few questions to get to know them better!
Meet Mari Godwin!
When did yoga first become a part of your life?
Yoga became part of my life about 15 years ago when my children were small. I began practicing as a way of decompressing and fell in love!
When did you begin teaching? What made you decide to progress from student to teacher?
I began teaching Pilates about 5 years ago. Teaching was a natural fit but I realized that my first love was yoga. I completed my yoga teacher training in 2016.
What is your personal practice and practice that you teach?
I practice every day. It changes depending on my mood. Sometimes it’s a fast flow and sometimes my body needs some restorative poses! I have a yoga hammock in my home and I love to practice aerial yoga as well. It definitely is part of my everyday routine. I would say that my practice is a playful one, full of laughter and experiments! That fun definitely carries into any class I teach.
If you could be any animal in the world, what would it be and why?
If I could be any animal on earth, I would be an animal in water! I would say probably a dolphin. The freedom they feel as they slice through the water must be incredible. They are also very intuitive and travel in pods.
What is your favorite quote?
My favorite quote is “Let the beauty of what you love, be what you do” –Rumi
When to practice with you at the owl?
I teach aerial yoga Mondays @ noon, heated all levels flow Wednesdays @ 6 and beginning June 20th, tone up/tune in Wednesdays @ 4:30
