Ariella Dominguez

Ariella wholeheartedly believes in the transformative power of yoga, meditation, holistic medicine, healthy eating and having a positive outlook on life. Her curiosity in alternative healing therapies began as a teenager and led her to start a formal study of yoga in 1997 with Hatha and Kundalini leisure courses in college. After graduating with her business degree and entering the corporate world, she continued to feel a pull toward yoga and the wellness industry. In 2011, she took the step to deepen her yoga practice by completing a 200 hour yoga certification which had a profound impact on the way she interacted with the world and further fed her desire to lead a more purposeful life in service of others.

In 2017, with the support and encouragement of her husband and family, she decided to open Grey Owl Mind-Body Studio as a space for practice, education, healing and community. Ariella now splits her time between being a business owner, enjoying time with family and friends, teaching and continues to be a lifelong student of yoga, meditation and natural healing modalities.

Ariella is a certified yoga and aerial yoga teacher and is currently working on her 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training advanced studies at Asheville Yoga Center.

Kevin made the decision to start teaching yoga in 2015 as a means of helping people to heal/prevent injuries and build strength. He also draws upon his 5 years as a Pilates practitioner to help students develop their core muscles that help support the spine and back.

Yoga Teacher

Selama Abdella

Selama first started her yoga journey through YouTube classes as a form of exercise, but soon realized that it was the perfect mental resource. After a few years of practicing at home, she finally took her first in-person class right here at Grey Owl. This eventually led her to completing her 200 hour certification at this very studio as part of our first graduating YTT class! Initially, Selama went into YTT not to teach, but to gain a deeper understanding for her personal practice. After seeing how natural and transformative teaching was for herself, she decided that the best way to continue her journey was to help others connect with their own practice. Selama now hopes to introduce yoga to people who otherwise wouldn’t think to try it and is excited to create a safe and genuine space for anyone willing to learn! When Selama isn’t on her mat, she loves to bake, do volunteer work, and obsessively watch seasons of Survivor (yes, it’s still on…)

Yoga Teacher

Wendy Smith

Wendy is a 200 Registered Yoga Teacher and a Certified Aerial Yoga Instructor. She is a Certified Reiki Practitioner, Crystal Healing Practitioner, Advanced Guided Meditation Practitioner, Level 1 Aroma Therapist and a Master Mindfulness Practitioner.

She discovered her love of yoga in 2011. She has always been very physically fit and enjoyed weightlifting and gymnastics. Wendy found out that she has a connective tissue disorder and was experiencing great deals of pain. She needed to find a way to be kind to her body while staying healthy. Yoga was the answer. She found yoga to be a great low-impact way to stay in shape, but also discovered it was amazing for her mind and spirit. While focusing much of her practice on the ground, Wendy wanted to take her practice to a much “higher” level. In 2012, she started training in Aerial yoga and became a certified Aerial yoga instructor in 2017.

Struggling to find relief from her connective tissue disorder in the “modern” world of medicine, Wendy found great comfort and relief with yoga, chiropractic care and from working with energy healers. Wendy’s health greatly improved. She delved into the world of holistic healing because she wanted to share the benefits with others. She has been a helper and a healer her entire life. She has been told that she is a great comforter. Energy healers have encouraged her for years to develop her gifts of healing and empathy. They have supported and guided her on her learning journey.
